Wharfedale

The River Wharfe is a river to the west of York. It's name is of Celtic origin, and means “twisting, winding”. The valley of the river is known as Wharfedale. The Upper Wharfe flows down through Kettlewell, Grassington, Bolton Abbey and Addingham, and is different from the downstream river.
